Leadership under pressure
The first British United Nations Commander in Bosnia, Colonel Bob Stewart DSO has also served extensively in Northern Ireland. But it was in Bosnia that he really made his name as something of an expert in obtaining and sustaining high morale when times were pretty grim.
Despite the appalling conditions in which they operated, the soldiers in Bob’s battalion group were widely recognised and praised for their high morale. In the end they surpassed expectations. This was largely down to their high morale and Bob Stewart’s approach as their leader.
Bob Stewart believes fervently that morale is the most vital ingredient in the achievement of success; either in the military or business. Using his experience he has developed a series of very practical steps or measures to ensure high morale. He will illustrate this using case studies from his personal army and business experience.
